I hope you are all managing to stay safe and sane in these turbulent times.
Quail Ridge Books is proud to be Raleigh’s community bookstore.
We are saddened by the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Tony McDade, and we are saddened by the systematic racism that has allowed for such things to happen over and over again in the United States of America. This is unacceptable, and it has to stop now.
We are saddened by the looting and destruction of property in North Hills, Raleigh and other cities in the United States of America that have impacted our friends and neighbors, looting and destruction of property that, it is important to note, is largely conducted by parties unaffiliated with the peaceful protests of the murders mentioned in the paragraph above.
Black lives matter.
This is not a political issue. This is a human issue.
We are both saddened that we need to amplify this message in the year 2020 and proud to do so.
At the end of the day, even amidst a pandemic, even amongst rioting and chaos in the system, we are going to be here to help you find quality books, and to help point you towards stories that highlight and value experiences and narratives that may be different than our own. We are going to be here to help you because we love what we do, we love our store, we love our community, and we love you.
As always, thank you for reading.
Here’s to a peaceful future, to harmony and to equality amongst our fellow human beings.
